Soft, cosy and warm — just like perfect winter mittens should be. The rich golden colour of the sample pair reminds me of the sun that may not always be in sight, but that is waiting for us just below the horizon.

MATERIALS 
Yarn: 1 skein of BFL/Masham 4ply by Woollen Twine (75% Bluefaced Leicester, 25% Masham, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), colourway Mustard.
Silk Mohair by Isager (75% kid mohair, 25% silk, 212 m – 25 g), colourway 22.
Or approx. 184 (203, 221) yds / 168 (185, 202) m of fingering-weight yarn and 184 (203, 221) yds / 168 (185, 202) m of lace-weight yarn.
Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Tukuwool Fingering, Woolly Mammoth Natural Sock and Säie Wool Sock Classic (for fingering-weight yarn) and Ito Sensai, Filcolana Tilia and Säie Wool Silk Mohair (for lace-weight yarn).
Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm 24–32” / 60–80 cm circular needles. The pattern has been written for long circular needles and the Magic Loop method but you can also use DPNs if preferred.
Notions: Tapestry needle.
GAUGE 
22 sts x 34 rnds to 4” / 10 cm in St St, after blocking.
28 sts x 34 rnds to 4” / 10 cm in Broken Rib Patt, after blocking.
CONSTRUCTION 
These mittens are worked seamlessly starting from the cuff and feature a thumb gusset. They have a long cuff in 2 x 2 ribbing that can be folded double — or even triple. A Broken Rib pattern is worked on the back of the hand. On the palm side, Stockinette Stitch is worked.
