PATTERN NOTES
Blanket is worked with the most basic Tunisian stitch. It forms an even grid and has often been used as the base for intricate cross-stitch patterns. Also called afghan stitch, this stitch has a tendency to curl.
Each row of Tunisian crochet consists of 2 parts: a forward pass (FP) where loops are worked onto the hook and a return pass (RP) where loops are worked off the hook.
Work the last stitch of each forward pass by inserting the hook under the 2 loops at edge (see illustration).
This blanket, with its bright flow of ever-changing colors, is a joy to make with simple Tunisian crochet stitches. Made in strips, it works up quickly, and you can choose your size: baby blanket or lap throw.
Because the loop that remains on the hook after a return pass counts as the first loop of the next row, begin the row instructions
for the next row in the 2nd vertical bar.
Grid design is worked with 2 contrasting colors of the recommended self-striping yarn. Work Grid with main color (MC)
and background with contrast color (CC). Work with 2 or 3 balls with different color sections at the same time, changing colors
as needed to maintain a contrast.
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
When changing colors, carry yarn not in use up wrong side of side edge until next needed. Do not cut unless otherwise
stated.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
