The Tunisian Chevron Skirt was a request from my 3 year old daughter Lily. Like many children she doesn’t fit into regular skirts sold in shops as she is tall and skinny, they either fall off her or they are so short it is more like her wearing a belt. She wanted me to design a skirt she could dance in that would swish and flare out when she twirls. The Tunisian Chevron skirt was my answer to her request.

The skirt comes in 3 sizes and is super adaptable, small, which will fit children approximately age 1-3 with an adjustable waist of 40-50cm, medium to fit approximately age 4-6 with an adjustable waist of 50-60cm and large to fit approximately age 7-10 with an adjustable waist of 60-70cm. The length of the skirt is designed to end around knee length. If you have a shorter child and need a shorter skirt then you can end the skirt before the specified row for the size you are making. If you need a longer skirt then you can increase the amount of rows beyond the suggestion for each size.

The Skirt is made from Double Knit Cotton (I used James C Brett Glisten) and is worked in the round using a double ended crochet hook. The yardage used for each skirt is 250m for the small, 500m for the medium and 1000m for the large. This may vary if you alter the skirt length. You will also need some 2.5cm thick elastic to finish the skirts waist band.

The pattern is a beginner friendly Tunisian project, and there are additional picture tutorials and video tutorials linked to the pattern to help with the trickier spots.
