Moegi is the name for the shade of green of delicate herb sprouts in the spring. Whether it is a pale blue-green or a green with yellow undertones, moegi is associated with clear and fresh greens. The pale celery green used for this hanten, a relatively short kimono, promises a lively harmony with essentially all other colors.
I used a simple 5/1 rib for the garment body and a 10/1 rib for the sleeves to create vertical textural stripes that will fl atter any figure. The silk-wool tweed yarn is a matte counterpoint to the high gloss cotton of the surface embroidery—diagonal running stitches randomly spaced in the purl sections of the rib on the body. The front is meant to hang open to reveal the coordinating colors and textures underneath, whether casual or dressy.
