fdc = foundation double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = triple crochet
vs = vee stitch
alt ch 2 = alternate chain 2
alt ch 3 = alternate chain 3

Special Stitches:
vee stitch = 2 triple crochet, chain 1, 2 triple crochet all in the same stitch
foundation double crochet = consists of a chain plus a double crochet
alternate chain 2 = takes the place of a double crochet
alternate chain 3 = takes the place of a triple crochet
