Trilogies Hat & Cowl
The Trilogies Hat & Cowl set is worked in a plush cotton-and-Merino yarn all in garter stitch, using a simple three-row stripe pattern. The cowl begins with a provisional cast-on and is grafted in garter stitch, and the hat is worked in the round from the bottom up.

Yarn Weight 3
Finished Size Cowl: 47” circumference and 12¾“ wide. Hat: 18 (19½, 20¾)” circumference at brim and 9½“ tall. Hat shown measures 20¾”.
Yarn Berroco Arno (57% cotton, 43% Merino wool; 159 yd 145 m/1¾ oz 50 g): #5022 Rose (pink; A), #5036 Wisteria (light purple; B), and #5033 Twilight Blue (C), 2 balls each.
Needles Sizes 6 (4 mm) and 8 (5 mm): 16” circular (cir). Hat only: Size 8 (5 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Cowl: Removable marker (m) or safety pin; waste yarn for provisional CO and to use as a stitch holder. Hat: Marker (m). Cowl and hat: Tapestry needle.
Gauge 20 sts and 36 rows/rnds = 4” in garter st on larger needle.

The cowl is worked back and forth in rows, beginning with a provisional cast-on, and then the ends are grafted together in garter stitch. You could also use a regular long-tail cast on, bind off, and then sew the ends together. The hat is worked in the round from the bottom up.

Do not break yarns at color changes. Carry unused yarn loosely up the side of the cowl or along the inside of the hat.

Mark right side of cowl with a removable marker or safety pin.
