Treilís Pullover

TREILÍS PULLOVER
……………………………………………
A seemingly unlikely alliance between simplicity and drama, Treilís is a cable-knit jumper in its most basic form.
Worked top-down as a series of vertical panels with easy cable repeats, the design involves very little shaping or technical nuance of any kind. And yet, when it all comes together there is a synergy of exuberance and complexity.
The traditional Irish cable motif used in Treilís has long served as a Rorschach test of sorts - with representations of botanicals, stag’s antlers, and hearts, being variously ascribed to its symbolic narrative. For me, Treilís is a knitted ode to those wild garlands of ivy that cling to old trees in every patch of local woodland. Walking amidst these glorious organic sculptures, I too want to be like the tree - draped in ivy trellises in recognition of my rootedness.
