This is the fifth and final shawl of the TréLiz “Van Gogh Sunflowers” collection and uses all four colorways!

The Tré Sunny shawl was designed for and with TréLiz’ four colorways inspired by Van Gogh’s Sunflower paintings. Each of the four colorways captures not only one of the famous paintings, but also Lise’s passion for and love of colors.

Bringing four multicolored skeins together in a design turned out to be quite a challenge – until I decided to just let all the colors play together and create a marled shawl with different textures!

If you love colorful yarn, but are never quite sure how to combine them, this pattern is perfect for you: It blends the colors together, but also gives each colorway the chance to shine on its own (by using two strands of the same color held together). Marling is such a fun way to play with colors!

This medium-sized seed-stitch shawl is knit in a simple top-down triangle construction. Sections in garter stitch and a broken-rib border add textural interest.

Holding two strands of yarn together throughout the pattern creates a colorful DK-weight shawl with plenty of drape that will keep you warm way beyond this chilly spring and bring color wherever you go.

Yarn: 4 colors of fingering weight yarn (2 strands of yarn are held together throughout the pattern)

Gauge: 16 sts / 28 rows = 10 cm / 4” in seed stitch with two strands held together (relaxed after blocking)

Gauge is not critical but it will influence the size of your finished shawl and your yardage!

Size: 180 cm / 71“ wingspan, 62 cm / 24.5“ height at center

Needles: US 7/4.5 mm circular needles (or size needed to obtain gauge or optimal drape)

Notions: tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers, waste yarn & crochet hook for provisional CO (optional)

Dieses Tuch wurde speziell für und mit den vier von Vang Gogh inspirierten Farben von TréLiz designed. Jede dieser vier besonderen Färbungen fängt eines der berühmten Sonnenblumen-Gemälde ein und zeigt gleichzeitig Lises Liebe und Leidenschaft für Farben.
Ein Tuch aus vier Multicolor-Garnen zu stricken war eine Herausforderung, bis ich entschloss, die Farben einfach miteinander „spielen“ zu lassen und eine meliertes Tuch in verschiedenen Texturen zu kreieren. Beim Melieren werden jeweils zwei Farben (oder zwei Fäden der gleichen Farbe) zusammengehalten und gemeinsam verstrickt.
Wenn du farbenfrohe Garne liebst, aber dir nicht so sicher beim Kombinieren bist, dann ist dieses Strickmuster perfekt: Die Farben werden durch das gemeinsame Stricken von zwei Farben/Fäden miteinander verblendet, haben aber auch alleine genügend Raum um ihre Pracht zu zeigen. Melieren ist eine wunderbare und einfache Technik, um mit Farben zu spielen!
