WORKED IN an undyed white wool, with a stranded colourwork pattern of grey chevrons and tiny blue crosses, this boy’s jumper has a simple, appealing fabric. It’s sized to fit boys aged four to eight years, and is knitted in the round. Shoulder seams are joined using the three-needle cast-off, while the left shoulder is finished with a buttoned opening worked in crochet.

Body is knitted in the round up to the armholes, then front and back are divided and knitted back and forth with armhole shaping. Sleeves are knitted in the round and sewn in place.
