Totterdown Shawl

Named after an area of Bristol in the UK, famous for its rows of coloured houses, and designed in the same easy to wear shallow triangle shape as my Shallow Arrow and Southville shawls, Totterdown incorporates two simple lace patterns repeated throughout. The fade feature adds interest. It also means that single skeins can be used to create any number of fabulous combinations.

Yarn Requirements: 200g fingering weight yarn
Sample knit in BirdstreetYarn Boo 4ply (80/20 SW Merino Bamboo);
CC1: Beachcomber (54g, 226m/247 yards),
CC2: Kelp (62g, 261m/286 yards),
CC3: Lovely Shrubbery (75g, 316m/346 yards)
Other samples have been knit with 10 x 20g mini skein fades in Botanical Yarns and Emma’s Yarn.
Needles: 3.5mm/US 4 circular needle long enough to accommodate 286 sts
Notions: Stitch Markers, an extra circular needle or a spare cable to keep stitches on hold, tapestry needle, crochet hook if adding fringe
Gauge: 22 sts x 36 rows in 10cm over houses pattern
Measurements: wingspan 202cm/79.5”, depth 58.5cm/23”
