Licena es un top primaveral inspirado en la variedad y colorido de un tipo de mariposa muy presente en Chile de la especie “licénida”. Son pequeñas mariposas de menos de 5 cm que se caracterizan por sus colores brillantes y su capacidad de confundirse con el medio que las rodea.

Está inspirado en la capacidad de movimiento, transformación y renovación de la vida, propia de esta especie y de esta estación del año.

CONSTRUCCIÓN

Es un top de silueta raglan construido desde abajo hacia arriba que incorpora un motivo de mariposa en encaje en el canesú, las mangas y los laterales del cuerpo. El cuerpo de la prenda tiene una ligera forma de A al incluir algunas disminuciones progresivas en el encaje de los laterales. Esto contribuye, junto con el trabajo de las mangas, a generar una silueta romántica.

Se trabaja de manera circular iniciando por el cuerpo. Antes de separar mangas éstas se trabajan por separado iniciando con un urdido provisional, ya sea para la versión manga corta o manga larga. Luego, se unen al cuerpo para continuar trabajando en circular y se realizan disminuciones tipo raglan. El canesú se teje en punto jersey en la espalda y el delantero y en punto de encaje en las mangas. El centro del delantero, cerca del cuello, lleva un motivo de encaje de una mariposa.

Está disponible en 8 tallas: 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7, 8) que corresponden a una circunferencia de pecho de la prenda de 83 (91, 99, 107) 115 (124, 133, 141) cm. Se sugiere usar esta prenda con una holgura positiva de 6 cm alrededor del pecho.

Se trabaja principalmente con agujas de 3 mm, lo que permite obtener una muestra de 25 pts x 35 rnds = 10 x 10 cm, tejida en punto jersey circular.

La muestra se realizó con una mezcla de 85% bambú y 15% lino de Lialanas, en el color Licena (lila), en grosor fingering.

Si bien es un top primaveral, el patrón incluye las instrucciones para hacerlo en manga francesa o larga, por lo que se puede jugar con los hilados y hacer versiones de media estación.

Licena is a spring top inspired by the variety and vibrant colors of a type of butterfly very common in Chile, from the Lycaenidae family. These are small butterflies—less than 5 cm / 2” in size—known for their bright colors and their ability to blend into their surroundings.

The design draws from this species’ natural ability for movement, transformation, and renewal—qualities that also embody the spirit of spring.

CONSTRUCTION

Licena is a raglan-style top constructed from the bottom up. It features a lace butterfly motif on the yoke, sleeves, and sides of the body. The body has a subtle A-line shape thanks to progressive decreases along the lace side panels. This, along with the sleeve design, creates a romantic silhouette.

It is worked in the round, starting with the body. Before separating for the sleeves, the sleeve sections are worked separately using a provisional cast-on—this applies to both the short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions. The sleeves are then joined to the body, and raglan-style decreases are worked. The yoke is knit in stockinette stitch for the back and front, and in lace for the sleeves. A butterfly lace motif decorates the center front near the neckline.

The pattern is available in 8 sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7, 8), which correspond to finished chest circumferences of

The top is designed to be worn with 6 cm / 2½“ of positive ease around the chest.

The top is primarily worked using 3 mm / 2.5 US needles, which yield a gauge of 25 sts x 35 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in circular St st.

The sample was knit using Lialanas yarn, a fingering-weight blend of 85% bamboo and 15% linen, in the color “Licena” (lilac).

While Licena is designed as a spring top, the pattern includes instructions for both elbow-length and long sleeves, making it easy to adapt for cooler seasons by playing with different yarns.
