Top Down Linen Stitch Baby Dress
An easy dress pattern that grows with baby to become a tunic top, the linen stitch straps and bodice provide a firm fabric with the look of smocking.
Skills include: knitted cast on, backward loop cast on, button holes, increases and decreases, knitting in the round, pick up and knit, cast off
Approx. 335 (370, 440) yards DK weight yarn
0-6 month Sample: Rico Baby Dream DK - 50g/133 yds - 3 balls, shown in colour 001 (Note: knitted sample used only 2 balls and yielded a skirt that was 1 3/4” shorter than finished length)
6-12 month Sample: James C Brett Glisten Cotton DK - 100g/229 yds - 2 balls, shown in Shade GS6
12-18 month Sample: King Cole Drifter DK for Baby - 100g/329 yds - 2 balls, shown in Shade 1383 Minty
1 24” 4mm/US size 6 needle, or size required to achieve gauge
2 stitch markers of different colours
Scrap yarn and Spare needle
2 buttons, 1/2”
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
