Top-down / Bottom-up Hottie
Every year in our house there is a certain few weeks when there’s a flurry of hot water bottle making. It has hit extra hard this year because the babies need a hotty each to warm up their prams and car seats first thing in the morning.
With this in mind, I have adapted my previous hot water bottle designs to include instructions for a classic striped cover in two sizes and which can be worked from the base upwards, or downwards from the cuff (depending on whether you prefer Judy’s Magic Cast On or Kitchener stitch closures).
The smaller hot water bottle can be worked from 50g of aran wieght yarn and is perfect to have on your lap when you’re working. The standard hot water bottle size uses less than 100g.
Because they are seamless, the covers are comfortable to use. My only word of caution is to keep them under wraps if you don’t want a very long wish list to suddenly appear just before Christmas ;-)
