To Arms for Year of Scarves 1/25/14
by Susan Huxley
A photo tutorial so complete your child can “read” the instructions.
Bond with a youngster or teen over an arm-knitting session and use up that ugly, what-was-I-thinking polar fleece you bought on sale.
Polar fleece is very warm but it doesn’t breathe. Cutting it into a continuous length and then knitting it solves the one problem while taking advantage of the material’s warm.
With fabric strips you can stitch a denser scarf, you work with a single strand rather than two skeins of super bulky yarn, and it’s cheaper.
Step-by-step photos walk you through cutting the fabric yardage and the arm knitting process.
This pattern is free Jan. 25, 2014 only. After that date it’s available for a nominal fee.
