Tiny Tote
This pattern is for a “pocket on a string” - a seamless, bottom-up bag with a carry strap sized to hold a smart phone and perhaps some ID and cash. Just what you need when traveling light, or when wearing an outfit with no pockets!
2 identical files are available for download. One is 24 point font for low vision accessibility. This pattern has 24 point, all black, sans serif text, with no italics and fully written directions.
The bottom is knit first and becomes an integral part of the bag without seaming. Similarly, the i-cord strap is knit during the bind off process. You will only need to transfer 3 live stitches to other pegs to accomplish this.
The bag can be knit in your choice of yarn. Cotton will yield a bag with a smoother, softer strap, while acrylic with maintain its shape without much stretch if the bag gets wet. (Why choose? Knit a bunch to go with every outfit!)
If knitting to the specified size and gauge, this project uses only about 50 yards of yarn and is a great stash-buster.
Skills: e-wrap knit, purl, i-cord, picking up stitches
