Tinuviel Crochet Shawl
JRR Tolkien is one of my favourite authors, Tinuviel is the original name of Luthien, an elven princess from his book The Silmarillion.
I wanted to design a delicate and ethereal shawl worthy of an elven princess, Tinuviel would make a perfect wedding shawl for a bride.
YOU WILL NEED
200 gms of Skein Queen Luminosity (100% Silk) - Silver/pale grey
4 Ply/Fingering weight yarn
(400 metres/437 yards per 100 gms/3.5 oz)
You can use an alternative yarn, but keep in mind that this pattern works best in 100% silk, due to the drape and fall of the design.
3mm crochet hook, or size needed for your tension.
SIZE & TENSION
Tinuviel measures approx. 57 inches on the top edge and 31 inches from top edge to centre bottom.
The pattern contains yarn recommendations
Written and charted Motif instructions in US and UK terms.
Step by step construction charts
Full coloured layout charts.
Tinuviel was originally published in 2010, a new sample shawl was made and the pattern has been completely re-written.
