The Time to Time striped blanket is knit entirely in garter stitch using worsted #4 weight yarn and US 8 knitting needles. It’s easy to knit and beginner friendly! Make this striped blanket one-of-a-kind by picking your favorite yarn colors.

The name for this pattern is inspired by simple things that are fun to do from time to time such as going to a museum, trying a new hobby, playing a card game, watching an old movie, tackling a jigsaw puzzle, rereading a favorite book, visiting a park or botanical garden, stopping at a yarn store on a road trip, serving a build-your-own ice cream sundae bar, or baking cookies using a new recipe.

THROW BLANKET - ONE SIZE: 42” wide x 53” long

To make blanket longer purchase more of Color A. Each additional 2” of length requires approximately 80 yards. (Details in pattern.)

WORSTED #4 WEIGHT YARN:

Color A: 1050 - 1090 yards = 5 skeins of Berroco Vintage
Color B: 430 - 436 yards = 2 skeins of Berroco Vintage
Color C: 160 - 165 yards = 1 skein of Berroco Vintage
Color D: 160 - 165 yards = 1 skein of Berroco Vintage
Color E: 400 - 410 yards = 2 skeins of Berroco Vintage

TOTAL: 2200 - 2266 yards = 11 skeins of Berroco Vintage

If you are looking for a striped blanket pattern for bulky #5 weight yarn… please see my Here & Now blanket knitting pattern.

FIVE YARN COLORS:

I used 5 colorways of Berroco Vintage in the sample shown:

Color A: Twilight (5 skeins)
Color B: Smoke (2 skeins)
Color C: Charcoal (1 skein)
Color D: Mochi (1 skein)
Color E: Jalapeno (2 skeins)

This design will work with many combinations of five yarn colors. When selecting yarn colors, consider using: two medium, one dark and two light colorways. For a more subtle appearance choose five light to medium colorways. If you prefer using four colorways… make Color A & E the same. There are limitless possibilities!

See my blog post about the pattern for yarn color combination ideas.

KNITTING NEEDLES: Blanket is knit flat, in one piece on US size 8 circular knitting needles. Or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: Garter stitch with US size 8 needles: 18 sts & 34 rows (17 garter ridges) = 4”

Take time to check gauge. A different gauge may require more (or less) yarn and impact finished size.

SKILL LEVEL: Easy / Beginner

You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit confidently, read a knitting pattern written in English using standard US knitting terms, and bind off stitches. See tips for weaving in ends on FiftyFourTenStudio.com.
