Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Winter 2004: “I once considered slip-stitch patters to be ‘cheater’s Fair Isle.” When I took a class with Anna Zilborg, autho r of Knitting for Anarchists, I found they were a clever technique for color and texture, producing a woven-like cloth, not at all like traditional Fair Isle knitting. I chose the simplest of patterns and the sweetest of single-ply merino, the resulting fabric is perfect for a tie.“

Finished Size: 54” (137 cm) long and 3” (7.5 cm) wide at end worn outside.

Yarn: Morehouse Merino 2 Strand (100% merino; 220 yd (201 m)/2 oz): rust and ochre, 1 skein each.

Needles: Size 1 (2.25 mm): 23” (60-cm) circular.

Notions: Tapestry needle; removable stitch markers or scrap yarn.

Gauge: 40 sts and 48 rows = 4” (10 cm) in slip-stitch pattern.
