Three Seasons Shawl
Three Seasons Shawl is a study in opposing lines and graphic stripes. It’s constructed as a classic triangle shawl, and the self-striping yarn from Gauge Dye Works gives clear cues for when to begin the central motif over again. Depending on which version you’re making — five stripes or seven; with one or two skeins of yarn — your project will have slightly different proportions with the exact same instructions. It’s one of those projects that’s intuitive and hard to put down.
The pattern also includes instructions for how to substitute yarn if you’d rather make up your own colour combinations.

Skills
I consider this an advanced beginner level pattern. Techniques used include a garter tab shawl beginning, working a knit/purl motif from charted or written instructions, and knit and purl increasing.
