The Vixen Socks
Pattern One of a special bundle!
One of my favorite creatures is the fox, whether the more common red fox or the critically endangered Darwin’s Fox, I love them all. Even as a child I was fascinated by these unique animals that reminded me so much of a cat, but looked so much like a canine. They are cunning and swift and have gained the title “Trickster” in many cultures. A vixen is a female fox and is fiercely protective of her kits. She will usually have 3-4, but that varies.
You may need to borrow the fox’s clever ways to work on this pattern, but it will be worth it in the end. The Vixen is a fun sock with cabling and twisted stitches that help form a fox’s face and paw prints in the midst of vines and paths of the forest.
Supplies:
- 100 grams fingering weight yarn (yarn used for sample: Cauldron’s Path Yarns Silver)
- Size 2.25mm (US 1) or size needed for gauge (please see note below)
- Cable needle
- 6 Beads: 3 for each Vixen, size 6 or 8, I think that shiny black ones would look best
This pattern has charts and written instructions.
