Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Robert Frost – The Road Not Taken
My favorite poem is ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Robert Frost. The yarn used for this shawl, Rainbow Heirloom Brit Aran in the September 2015 Nostalgia Club colorway ‘Winding Road’, combined with this poem, was my main inspiration.
The shawl is worked from the bottom up, starting with the point, increasing on every row. The winding road pattern is added with the increases and maintained throughout the shawl as you shape the triangle.
Yarn: Rainbow Heirloom Brit Aran (100% Bluefaced Leicester), 165 meters / 180 yards per 100g, 3 skeins. Colourway: “Winding Road”.
Needles: 5.5 mm / US 9 circulars, 80 cm / 32 inches in order to accommodate a large number of sts.
Gauge: Sample uses gauge of 14 sts & 26 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in slanting diagonal stitch pattern. Gauge is not crucial, as you will be binding off when you have a small amount of yarn left, but please note that difference in gauge may affect the final size.
Size:
Width from tip to tip: 252 cm / 99.25 inches.
Depth at center point: 59 cm / 23.25 inches.
