The Notions Pouch
About
Perfect for beginners to colorwork, or anyone looking
for an easy project!
This pattern includes three designs for you to choose from. The charted motifs for these designs vary in terms of complexity. If you are new to colorwork, you might begin with the simplest, then work your way up towards the most complex design.
Sizing
The size of the pouch is generally about 4” wide and
4.75” tall, but as there is little need for a gauge swatch, yours may come out a bit different.
Materials
Yarn
Fiction Fiber 100% Extra Fine Merino in Fingering Singles. Non-Superwash
Colors & Quantities:
- Color A - About 25g or 110yds
- Color B - About 25g or 110yds
Needles
• Size 2 US needles, double-pointed (dpns) (four or five
will be needed, according to your preference), or circular
needles for magic loop method.
Notions
• 2 unique stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors
Construction
The pouch is knit top-to-bottom. After the final row, the bottom is seamed using kitchener stitch.
Special Techniques:
- Basic colorwork knitting In-the-round knitting
- Joining in the round
- Kitchener stitch (other methods can be substituted if preferred (such as mattress stitch or general sewing). This is used to close up the bottom of the pouch Crochet chain – a single chain of crochet loops. I-cord can be substituted if desired, but instructions are not provided for i-cord.
