The Mouse
by Sage Webster
This pattern is available
for AU$5.00.
Though it may be small, this Mouse is full of heart. With only a few hours of work, and over twenty photos to help you through the tricky spots, this mouse is easy to make up in an afternoon all ready to be tucked in with your little ones (or happily perched on a shelf!) come bedtime.
Inspired by the likes of Redwall and Mouse Guard, we know mice can be called by the greatest adventures. For that they need gear and outfits to go with it! Though this pattern includes the mouse only, clothes for it (capes, satchels, and hats to start!) will be soon offered for free on the Little Seal Designs website here https://littlesealdesigns.com/
Now for some of the technical side of things…
- US terms, crocheted in the round and including magic circles/rings, chaining, increases, decreases, and front/back loop only stitches, all done in single crochet.
- Good pattern for beginners, intermediates, or advanced. May look daunting for beginners, but practice makes perfect and if you have any trouble at all you can feel free to reach out at any time for help.
Materials Needed
- Two colours of medium weight yarn, one for the paws and tail (~5yards/metres), and one for the body (~20 yards/19metres). Yarn usage depends on your stitch size, the yarn itself, and your hook size.
- 3.00mm crochet hook to keep the stitches nice and tight.
- Plastic safety eyes, buttons, a little bit of fabric, or a bit of black yarn to make the pupils of the eyes. I’ve used 8mm safety eyes in the mouse pictured.
- Stuffing
- Sewing pins to keep things in place as you stitch (not absolutely necessary, but can help keep things from sliding around)
- Marker to keep track of rounds (I use an extra little piece of yarn)
- Yarn needle (or smaller if you prefer to attach pieces with thread), scissors, general etc.
Notes
- The pattern is a downloadable PDF file, which you’ll have access to after your purchase. Please contact us if you’d like it mailed to you instead.
- You’re welcome to keep, gift, or sell any toys you make from this pattern! If any of your friends would like the pattern, please help support my creations by sending them back here :)
