The Backstory:

Last spring I had the great privilege of reviving a role in “Old Turtle and the Broken Truth: The Musical” at the 14stY in Manhattan. It’s one of my favorite musicals I’ve gotten to work on, with a beautiful message: “You are loved, and so are they”.

With so much hate in the world today it was a welcomed relief to get to perform in this show again, and it inspired me to design this hat. The hat uses a broken up ribbing pattern, and just like in the show in which the Broken Truth only shows half of the story, the hat is reversible. Most knitters would assume the inside is knit on the outside, since it most resembles a k1, p1 ribbing, but that isn’t the truth.

Know that to every half-truth there is a grain of whole truth and maybe you don’t have the full answer or full story, so always be apprehensive and open to hearing other’s truths. Be kind, always.
