Notes from the Designer:

Are you finally ready to crochet your first cardigan? Then you’re in luck! Thaw is a beginner friendly cardigan pattern for Fall, and I am loving it for multiple reasons. First, the simplicity. A top-down raglan construction that’s worked all in double crochet stitches makes this such a simple pattern for anyone with very little experience. Second, the fit. Roomy and relaxed, the ease of this sweater is very forgiving and perfect for all sizes and body types. Plus, with details like pockets, super cute buttons, and an easy breezy edging, you can make the details your own, however you choose. Thaw out this year!

  • Click here to watch a video on my crochet journey.
  • End of row stitch counts INCLUDE any chain spaces. For example, if you have 20 stitches and 4 ch-1 spaces, the end of row count will read 24.
  • Sleeves can be made to fit, so the sleeve part of the pattern is just a guideline. Make them longer or shorter, as needed. Increase more often or less often, as needed. Make them full-length or three-quarter, however you want this sweater to fit you. Yardage in pattern indicates full-length, roomy sleeves with the same relaxed fit as the sweater itself. Please adjust however you choose!
  • The edging is designed to be “no stress.” If you are missing a stitch or have one too many stitches, it’s no big deal. Get it close enough, and once your cardigan is finished, no one will be the wiser.
  • Pockets can be made any size you want. Just remember that bigger pockets require more yarn.
