The legend tells that someone nailed a wooden board engraved with the inscription “TEX-ARK-ANA: this is the name of the city that must be built here” halfway between Little Rock and the state line between Texas and Arkansas, perhaps as an irony for the well-known rivalry between the workers of the railway junctions that crossed in this area. The bridge that crossed the Red River to connect Texarkana with St. Louis was inaugurated in March, just like this concise and easy pattern that will surprise you at various points in its construction.

Notes about construction

This neck is shaped like an arrowhead and begins at one of the corners. The shape is worked symmetrically and on the bias so that in the first part, we increase to create the tip of the arrow, and in the second, we decrease. A 3-point i-cord is worked along the edge that will serve us at the end to hide the stitch of the back seam of the neck.
The whole piece is worked with two strands simultaneously: fingering and mohair. In my case, I have used the same colour, but you can play with the mohair halo to get an iridescent tone by mixing two different colours.
Custom Size: if you want it bigger or smaller, you can lengthen both the B and C sides that mark the proportion of the neck. If you do, keep in mind that the yarn requirements might change.

Yarn requirements
Remember that these amounts are approximate. Total yarn usage will depend on your yarn (fibre content, twist, etc.), your personal gauge, and any modifications you make.

A - 110 g - 352 m / 385 yds of Fingering Weight Merino in a solid colour.
B - 25.25 g - 231 m / 253 yds of Lace Weight Kid Silk Mohair in a solid color.
* If the mohair is not the same color as the fingering base, the predominant color will be that of the mohair due to the halo of your hair.

Suggested yarn
This shawl is knitted with two strands simultaneously, one of mohair and the other fingering in the same tone. Still, you can experiment with different tones to achieve iridescent effects in the garment, thanks to the mohair’s nuances.

A - 1 skein (100 g/320 m; 3.55 oz / 349 yd; 100% Merino) & 1 mini skein(10 g/32 m; 3.55 oz / 34.9 yd; 100% Merino) of cColour Copper #goRSen pink.
B - 1 skein (25 g/210 m; 0.9 oz / 229 yd; 72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk) &1 mini skein (0.25 g / 21 m; 0.0 oz / 23 yd; 72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk) of c- Lace Weight, Colour Copper #golden pink.

I have used a skein of yarn A and yarn B with a tiny leftover. Some of my testers have needed a skein and a half, so I recommend buying a skein and a mini of each yarn to ensure that the footage adapts to your tension.
Needles

4 mm / 80 cm medida US 6 / 32” circular needles or the needle size needed to achieve the correct gauge.

Notions

Stitch markers, tapestry needle and measuring tape.

Gauge

14 stitches and 20 rounds = 4 x 4 “10 x 10 cm in Ribbing and Garter St Pattern worked FLAT on the 4 mm needles after blocking.

Notas acerca de la construcción

Este cuello tiene forma de punta de flecha y se empieza por una de las esquinas. La forma se trabaja de manera simétrica y al bies de modo que en la primera parte vamos aumentando para crear la punta de la flecha y en la segunda vamos disminuyendo. A lo largo del borde se trabaja un icord de 3 puntos que nos servirá al final para esconder la puntada de la costura trasera del cuello.

Toda la pieza se trabaja con dos hebras a la vez: una de fingering y otra de mohair. En mi caso he usado el mismo color pero se puede jugar con el halo del mohair para conseguir un tono irisado mezclando dos tonos distintos.

Notas sobre la talla: si lo quieres más grande o más pequeño puedes alargar tanto el lado B como el C que marcan la proporción del cuello. Si lo haces ten en cuenta que los requerimientos de hilo están calculados para estas medidas.

Hilo
Recuerda que estas cantidades son aproximadas. El uso total de hilo dependerá del hilo que utilices (contenido de fibra, torsión, etc.), así como de tu tensión y cualquier modificación que hagas

Hilo recomendado
Este chal está tejido con dos hebras al mismo tiempo, una de mohair y la otra de fingering en el mismo tono, pero puedes experimentar con distintos tonos para conseguir efectos irisados en la prenda gracias a los matices del mohair.

He usado una madeja del hilo A y una madeja del hilo B con muy poco sobrante. Algunas de mis testers han necesitado una madeja y media por eso recomiendo comprar una madeja y una mini de cada hilado para poder estar seguro de que el metraje se adapta a tu tensión.

Agujas

Agujas circulares de 4 mm / 80 cm medida US 6 / 32 “ o el grosor necesario para obtener la tensión correcta.
