Technique
Overlay Mosaic Crochet with slanted stitches: each round is made with one color and consists of single crochet in the back loop (sc blo) and double crochet in the front loop (dc flo)

Stitches
In addition to vertical dc, I also use slanted dc and extended dc (made one or two stitches back or forward), decreases, increases, and occasionally, front post stitches (there is a video and explanation for all stitches)

Sizes:

• Width x Height: 29cm x 31.5cm/ 11 ⅜’’ x 12 ⅜’’
• Bottom: 25cm x 6cm/ 9 ¾’’ x 2 ⅜’’

Materials and tools:

Yarn:

• Sport/ 4ply weight such as Scheepjes Catona (100% Cotton, 50g/ 125m)
• Yarn1 (background): 265g (with 10% extra) in 388 Rust, including 23g for bottom, 135g for body, 26g for upper edge backing, 14g for the first handle, 66g for backpack straps/second handle)
• Yarn2 (contrast): 115g in 130 Old Lace

Other materials and tools:

• Crochet tools: crochet hooks 2.75mm (for the bag) and 3mm (for straps), tapestry needle, stitch markers
• Fastening: 1 x sew-on magnetic clasp
• Lining fabric: 39cm/ 17 ¾’’ of pre-quilted fabric (bag height + 5.5cm/ 2 ⅛’’)
• Upper edge reinforcement: 7cm x 65cm/ 2 ¾’’ x 25 ½’’ (bag width x 2 + 4cm/ 1 ½’’) piece of buckram (very stiff but thin backing for hats and bags) or Pellon 70 Peltex Sew-In Ultra Firm Stabilizer
• Bag bottom reinforcement (optional): 23.5cm x 4.5cm/ 9 ¼’’ x 1 ¾’’ (bag bottom size – 1.5cm/ ¾’’ from each side) piece of plastic canvas
• Sewing tools: sewing machine, tapestry needle, sewing thread (match Yarn1)
