Telopea
Lightness, elegance and sweetness have met! This little mohair sweater is all about simplicity and romanticism. Its main features are delicacy achieved by using a mohair yarn, lovely frilly bottom which curls up like flower petals, decorative cuffs and embroidered, plump roses all over the body. Telopea is a flower, so allow it to bloom on your needles! Its easy construction and small size allows us to quickly delight in a finished project.
Telopea is a cropped mohair sweater with a rounded neckline, frilly bottom hem, slightly puffed sleeves, decorative textural cuffs and embroidered roses all around the body.
It is worked top-down and completely seamless. It starts with two front pieces, which, after neckline and shoulder shaping, are joined and worked straight down to the underarm. Stitches for the back are then picked up and, after shoulder shaping, worked straight down to the underarm. The shoulders are shaped by short rows. The pattern describes German short rows but you can use any other method if you like. The back and the fronts are joined together and continued straight down in one piece to the hem. Frilly hem is created by increasing the number of stitches. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked in the round down to the cuffs. The hem and the neckline edge is made using I-cord Bind Off. The embroidered roses are made at the very end by using bullion stitches.
Telopea looks great both with and without the embroidery. You can decide about the flowers, their number and size after finishing the sweater. You can find all essential information how to create the flowers in the pattern, including layout schematics and a link to a video tutorial.
The project is suitable for beginners and takes extremely little time to complete. It is made using two mohair lace weight threads held together. You can successfully replace them with one strand of fingering weight yarn. Use light and fluffy yarn to achieve the best result.
The pattern contains detailed instructions for making the sweater in 9 sizes and two language versions – Polish and English.
