Teampall Bhreacháin Gloves
Gloves to match the Teampall Bhreacháin hat. This pattern is included in the book: KNITTING MITTENS & HATS FROM AROUND THE WORLD (this set to represent Ireland) from Voyageur Press. The 1st edition of the book version contains several errata on the charts & chart key & the publisher’s correction is posted here:

(scroll down to pages 82 & 83) The original pdf version contains no errata.
For experienced knitters who are good chart readers & understand the basics of knotwork knitting. Advanced techniques include turned & tacked picot hem, charted knotwork knitting both flat & in the round, grafting in pattern, picking up sts from a seed st edge & standard glove knitting/ finger shaping in the round.
These gloves begin with a knotwork cuff that is knit flat then joined, then picked up & finished in the round.
Teampall Breachain means ‘the 7 churches’ (but there are really only 2 at the site). A visit to the carved stone ruins at this site on Inishmore inspired the knotwork designs for these gloves & the matching hat. Can be done in Dk/sport (for adult Small) or standard worsted (for medium sizes) or heavy worsted (for large)
The book version is now available in a German translation.
