PATTERN INFORMATION
Sunny Cardigan is a light summer cardigan with an all-over lace pattern, perfect over a summer dress or a jumpsuit. It has a seamless, top-down construction, with short rows used to raise the back of the neck, and yoke increases incorporated in the stitch pattern. You can make it any length, from a shrug to a full length cardigan. The lace stitch pattern (Ostrich Plumes) is easier to knit than it looks - you only work the lace pattern on every 4th row, the remaining rows are plain stockinette stitch.

This garment requires careful blocking. Use yarn that blocks well (100% wool will work best).*

Sizes
2 (4, 6, 8, 10, 12) years
Finished chest circumference: 56 (60, 64, 70, 75, 80) cm/22 (23.5, 25.25, 27.5, 29.5, 31.5) in. To be worn with 2.5-5 cm/1-2 in of positive ease at chest. If you prefer more ease, go one size up. The orange sample is shown in size 8 years with 5 cm/2 in of positive ease.

Gauge (after blocking)
Ostrich Plumes stitch (used for body): 1 pattern repeat of 16 sts x 32 rows is 7 (7.5, 8, 7, 7.5, 8) cm/2.75 (3, 3.2, 2.75, 3, 3.2) in wide and 9.5 (10.5, 11, 9.5, 10.5, 11) cm/3.75 (4.1, 4.3, 3.75, 4.1, 4.3) in high, with main size needle.

Materials
Yarn: fingering weight wool

Long sleeved version: 350 (400, 400, 550, 600, 600) m/385 (440, 440, 605, 660, 660) yds.

Shown in Malabrigo Sock (100% merino wool, 402 m/440 yds per 100g). Terracotta colourway was used for the long sleeved cardigan, Natural colourway was used for the shrug. Use 100% wool for best results. Wool or cotton blends with acrylic or nylon are not suitable - they will not hold blocking.
