With this knitting pattern you can have bright and cheerful sunflowers in your home all year round. The flower’s stalk has a bamboo skewer inside it so that it stands up straight. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the flower and leaves are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The stalk is an i-cord tube worked on two DPNs.

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.75mm single pointed knitting needles (US 5), and a pair of 3.5mm DPNs (US 4).

RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; a few grammes in each colour.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, a little toy filling, and a bamboo skewer.

SIZES
One size only - The sunflower is 7cm diameter, and the flower and stalk are 21cm tall above ground when planted.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, a picot cast on, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
