Semicircular shawls can be designed in a few ways. As a designer, one design that’s always been fun to play with, as well as a bit of a challenge to design, is based on Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Pi Shawl. It’s a somewhat flexible method as you can fudge the numbers a bit to fit the stitch counts to accommodate the pattern. Here, I was able to almost double the stitches when needed and still fit the pattern into the design without working any crazy maneuvers or extra increases to end up with the number of stitches I needed.

Worked in a yarn with a slight halo, this shawl will look great in a smooth yarn as well. The viscose in this yarn gives the the shawl some shimmer; use a silk blend to get the same look.
