Summer Cottage
This little cottage doubles up as a box and is an exciting project to work on. The pattern is long but the knitting is straightforward and only simple embroidery stitches are used to add the embroidered details. Photographs are included at every step to help you create your own beautiful cottage.
The finished cottage measures roughly 14 cm wide and tall and 11 cm deep (5½ x 5½ x 4½“) and the structure is provided by plastic canvas. You will need one sheet of Ultra Stiff 7 count plastic, measuring 33.5 x 26 cm (13 x 10”). All the knitting and embroidery is done with DK weight yarns. I used small amounts of various shades of Stylecraft Special DK for everything apart from the walls of the cottage which are worked with Stylecraft Batik; full details are given in the pattern.
My cottage is inspired by the stone cottages of the Cotswolds in England and the walls are decorated with lots of flowers. There is plenty of scope for you to add your own decorations and some or all of the flowers could be replaced with small buttons or beads.
All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them,
please consider making a donation to the British Liver Trust where
the money will go to fund research and support the families of
children with a liver disease. You can do this easily by going to my
fundraising page here
