Storm Clouds II
I was trying to re-enact a good-looking mistake I made in Storm Clouds I but settled on this variant of a pattern in 1902 Butterick’s The Art of Knitting. Storm Clouds II pattern has a 2-stitch repeat + 1 selvage stitch and just 2 pattern rows. Either side could be the “right” side. Row 1 is identical to a brioche stitch’s row 1 but my row 2 is far less intense than true brioche. I enjoyed that “vacation” row!
The swatch is 3.25 inches wide at gauge.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
32 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 thread will make 10 inches of a 25-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
