Starting Line Scarf
Part of the Transitions E-book.
This style of scarf is a “framed” scarf in that the center lace pattern has been framed by other stitches. In this case a simple lace edging top and bottom and garter stitches on either side. The garter edgings help control the tendency of
the stockinette pattern to curl at the edgings.
Techniques include – tab style start; Pick-up and knit; knitted on edging; and garter st grafting.
These patterns have been designed to take an advanced beginner/intermediate knitter from a fairly simple straight lace scarf to a circular collar to a larger moebius cowl. Many of the steps are illustrated with photographs and all the techniques are good basics to learn for any future lace knitting.
