Sputnik the Magnificent
by Annie Watts
This pattern is for a floppy, huggable toy cat. The pattern employs stranded color work and two dimensional shaping that will be familiar to anyone who has done two color mittens and who would like to branch out to knitting toys. The pieces are all knit separately then blocked, loosely stuffed, and joined. Knitting, joining, and stuffing separately in this manner allows the fabric to be knit tight enough to make a sturdy toy but also creates nice flexible joints. With all the features done in color work, there is the novelty of no embroidery or embellishments to do after seaming!
