Spring Shrug
Designed for the Hobbii Spring Celebrations campaign in January 2025 the brief was for a knit or crochet pattern designed for celebrations such as weddings. Emphasizing the handmade the style called for romantic, soft and dreamy with a very muted colour pallet.
Difficulty
Knitted from the top down with markers used for the raglan sleeves and then the lace pattern on the back this shrug is an easy yet effective knit. The sleeves are then picked up and knitted down on either double pointed needles or a small circular. With minimal sewing up this is a pretty and snug fitting shrug that will be just perfect to keep the chill of a spring day from the shoulders.
Yarn and Notions
Double knitting yarn (light worsted / 8 ply) I have used Hobbii Friends Cotton Silk. This is a 77% cotton, 23% Bourette silk which together creates a delicate yarn. In 50g balls it has 120 meters / 131 yards
Depending on size you will need between 150 meters/165 yards and 620 meters / 680 yards
Needles:
4mm (US 6) 60 or 80cm circular needle
Either five 4mm double pointed needles or a small circular needle for sleeves
Optional: Three stitch holders or lengths of yarn
Four moveable stitch markers, tapestry needle
Measurements
To find your size measure from underarm to underarm across the back, measurements are the finished size, the shrug should be a snug fit so go down a size if you are between sizes.
Underarm to underarm measurements from 27cm / 10.5 inches to 67cm / 26.5 inches across nine sizes. Sleeves can be made longer.
If you encounter any problems with the pattern please let me know, whilst it has been checked we are all human.
