Difficulty: Advanced. Charts only! Provisional CO is used. You will be asked to graft together a number of sts (or do a 3-needle BO). Borders and front/neck edges are knitted on sideways. This is basically a shawl with sleeves.

Yarn: 100 grams of (MC) Zitron Fil Royal, 100% alpaca, 656 yards (600 m) / 100 grams. And 50 grams (two skeins) of (CC) Zitron Extraklasse 100% mohair, 246 yards (225 m) / 25 grams.

Size: When worked as written: Back waistline width 18 inches (45 cm), back length 21.5 inches (55 cm). Fronts are overlapping. Size is adjustable using larger or smaller size needles and/or a different yarn, and by working more or less repeats of the charts as directed before joining for sleeves. Changing the size will change the amount of yarn needed! Several testers extended both arm length and body length after joining for sleeves, that works well too.

Needles: US 4 and 6 (3,5 mm and 4 mm) circular needles or the needle you need to get gauge. Spare needles of same size as your project needles for provisional CO and 3-needle BO.

Gauge: 21 sts and 21 rows to 4’’x4’’ (10x10 cm) in pattern on larger needles according to swatch chart. Using different yarn from the one used here will affect your gauge and yardage, and thus the final size of the cardigan.

Other notions: Stitch markers. Crochet hook or other gizmo for placing beads.

Beads: Seed beads size 8/0 (optional). The cardigan is shown with beaded borders, the pattern includes a suggestion for beading the leaves of the body too, if you should feel like it. If you work it exactly as written without extending anything, you will need 256 beads for the body edge, 88 for each sleeve, in all 432 beads. Extending the sleeves won’t change the number as they are worked streight, but extending the body will increase the number.

Construction: The cardigan is worked in one piece from the neck down with shoulder shaping. When the body is done, the sides are grafted together to form sleeves, and sleeves and body sts are bound off with a sideways knitted on lace border. Finally, the front and neck edge is worked (also as a sideways knitted on border).
