Tis the season for spooky socks! The Spirit Socks evoke the feeling of whispy spirits floating in the chill Autumn air with the twisted stitch panel and textural repeats. They also just happen to include all my favorite techniques for cozy sock knitting so you could say that these socks are my spirit animal in sock form.
This pattern isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you enjoy twisted stitches and texture that pops off the fabric grab your needles and cast-on! This pattern pairs best with a tonal yarn so keep that in mind when selecting your colorway.
This pattern includes variations for both toe-up and cuff-down options and features a short-row heel along with a standard wedge toe, but feel free to substitute your favorites as needed. This pattern is written for 6 sizes: Baby – Adult Large.

The needle size listed is the needle size I regularly use, but I am a very loose knitter so you may need to go up 1-2 needle sizes to get a fabric that you like. Most knitters do well with US size 2 (2.75 mm) & if you are a tight or newer knitter you may want to try a US size 3 (3.25 mm). If you know your standard needle size for sock knitting, use that instead of what I have listed (the size that gives you gauge).
Make sure that your beginning of round marker is different from your other markers so you can tell the difference. Locking markers are recommended .
