Charles Dickens created the charming Samuel Pickwick who was known for his circular spectacles and twinkling eyes. The Spectacle Rib Socks are a homage to the lovable Mr. Pickwick, recreating his circular spectacles with a bouncy, lace rib. As you may know (and I’m sure Samuel would agree) nothing is more pleasurable than slipping on a sock that stretches elegantly to fit your leg and foot. The Spectacle Rib Pattern is a very stretchy pattern based on a multiple of 7 stitches and worked over 3 rows. Easily memorized and a delight to wear. The sock is knit from the top down. Directions for the Spectacle Rib Pattern are written as well as charted.

Women’s US size 5-10. Shown for women’s medium and large. The sock can easily be resized by adding or subtracting stitches in multiples of 7.

400 yds/365m Fingering weight sock yarn. Shown here in Jorstad Artisan Yarns Mr. Pickwick (High twist 2-ply; 85% extrafine superwash merino; 15% nylon; 394 yds/360m); 1 skein, in Apple Blossom.
