On the east coast of the United States, many of our beaches come with a bonus: the bayside or soundside. Popular beach destinations in Maryland and North Carolina are built on barrier islands and peninsulas, with the ocean on one side and a bay or sound on the other. These waters are calm, full of wildlife and offer gorgeous sunset views. An evening soundside easily rivals a day on the beach.
The Soundside pullover is my idea of the perfect cozy sweater for evening breezes and late night chill at the beach.
Its boxy shape features simple stockinette and mock rib, with a drop shoulder and curved hem. But the real star of this piece is the yarn. Worked in a merino/silk fingering weight yarn held together with the softest laceweight mohair and silk, it’s a dream to work with and to wear.
