PATTERN INFORMATION
Solis is a light, open front cardigan with a bit of lace - you will not get bored knitting it. It has a seamless top-down construction with set-in sleeves. The pattern contains detailed charts including neck and sleeve shaping in the lace pattern. All charts are translated into written instructions, which are at the end of the pattern.

Skills needed
Provisional and backward loop cast-ons, stockinette stitch, increases, decreases, knitting in the round, picking up stitches, working a lace pattern, i-cord bind off.

The cardigan is designed to be worn with slight positive ease or no ease for adult sizes, and approx 5 cm/2 in of positive ease for kids’ sizes. Shown in size 12 years.

Gauge (measured after blocking)
Stockinette St: 24 sts and 34 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in, with larger needle
Lace Pattern: 1 pattern repeat of 7 sts and 8 rows is 3 cm/ 1.2 in wide and 2.5 cm/ 1 in high, with larger needle
I-cord BO: 22 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in, with larger needle

Materials
Yarn:
600 650, 750, 900260, 1460, 1600, 1800, 1900) m/ 660 715, 825, 990390, 1605, 1760, 1980, 2090) yds of fingering weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Sock (100% merino wool, 402 m/ 440 yds per 100g, col. Solis). Use yarn that blocks well.

Needles and notions:

  • 3.5 mm (US #4) and 3.25 mm (US #3) circular needles, 60-100 cm/ 24-40 in long (choose needle length appropriate for body circumference)

  • 3.5 mm (US #4) and 3.25 (US #3) preferred needles for sleeve knitting (DPNs or circulars)

  • 3.5 mm (US #4) short circular needle, 40-60 cm/ 16-24 in long (for upper back)

  • 3.5 mm (US #4) DPNs

  • crochet hook, for provisional CO

  • scrap yarn or stitch holder

  • approx 10 removable stitch markers
