I decided to make a shawl pattern that I wanted to name Solar Storm. I thought it should be color drenched and fairly quick and easy. Well, I looked around for a nice wool blend in a worsted weight that would be perfect for what I had in mind. I found the perfect yarn on the Knit Picks website; and guess what it was named…Solar Storm! So I ordered this gorgeous yarn and designed a shawl that works up quickly with size US11/8mm circular knitting needles (and 32”/80cm size US13/9mm circular knitting needles used only for casting on). The yarn is intense with color, perfect for a pattern with a lovely beaded lace section below the stockinette/stocking stitch top. There are pretty wide points pulled down along the bottom edge.

The shawl is a nice wide crescent shape, easy to wear and just fun! As always, the beads are optional. It’s a bottom up knit with short rows (directions included) at the top section. The beads are glass and the same size as a pony bead (136 Size 9mm Glass Crow pony beads with 3mm holes, color orange). I like how the beads glow in the sunlight.

A good gift knit as this is fairly quick. Any recipient will be happy to receive this shawl!
