Sokolata
Warm, calming, and rich as a cup of cocoa, Sokolata is an oversized garter stitch shawl that will soothe your soul. Sokolata is knit from the bottom up with a striped border and short rows forming it into an asymmetrical crescent. It showcases four colors of Anzula’s merino/yak blend yarn, Katara, and truly puts this gorgeous yarn on display. With simple stripes and a repetitive short row pattern, Sokolata is perfect for cuddling up by the fire with your chocolatey beverage of choice.
Specific yarn requirements:
Anzula Luxury Fibers Katara (50% Yak, 50% Superwash Merino;
98 yds/90 m per 50g); 2 skeins each of Frankie (C1) and Boysenberry (C2), 1 skein of Charcoal (C3), and 5 skeins of Au Natural (C4)
Or, 4 colors of DK weight yarn:
195 yds/180 m of C1, 150 yds/135 m of C2, 95 yds/85 m of C3, and
490 yds/450 m of C4 for a total of 930 yds/850 m
Needles:
US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, at least 40”/100 cm long
Gauge:
14.5 sts & 34 rows = 4”/10 cm in Garter Stitch
Meeting this exact gauge is not crucial, but any major differences will affect the size of the finished shawl as well as yarn requirements.
ERRATA:
2019-06-10: The setup rows in the Crescent section should read as follows:
Setup row 1 (RS): K203, k2tog, k3, turn work – 1 st decreased.
Setup row 2 (WS): Sl1 with yarn in front, k25, k2tog, k2, turn work – 1 st decreased.
This was fixed in version 2 of the pattern.
