Social Distance
So many of us are sheltering in place and home, and that means a lot of knitting from stash. If you have mini skeins or partial skeins you want to use, knit Social Distance. You can use as little as 7 yards or as much as 85 yards. This pattern is super flexible, and you can knit it again and again and make it look completely different every time!
Yarn Requirements:
12 mini skeins in assorted colors
each section uses between 67-85 yards
915 yards required in total
Recommended Yarn:
12 skeins Sew Happy Jane Tiny Poppers Mini Skeins
Notions: tapestry needle, stitch marker, crochet hook, scrap yarn, spare needle for kitchener
Pattern Notes
• Specific yardage for each section is listed in the instructions for that section.
• Knit all sections in order, or mix them up and knit them randomly.
• Add or subtract sections to make a longer or shorter cowl.
• Use a different color for each section, selecting them randomly, or laying them out with a plan.
• There is no need to weave in ends when you change color, just knot the old and new colors together.
• To achieve a jogless stripe, slip the first stitch on the second row of a new color.
• The beginning and end of the cowl are stitched together using a kitchener stitch.
• Gauge is not very important unless you are using partial skeins and run close to required yardage for any section. If your gauge is larger than indicated, you could run out of yarn. But maybe you like a good game of yarn chicken!
• If you are using leftover yarn and have fewer yards that required for a section, knit fewer repeats in that section.
