Snowburst Socks

Celebrate snowy days with the Snowburst Socks. This top-down sock design features a scalloped cloud cuff, a flurry of snowflakes on the leg, and a fun striped toe! Perfect for capturing the magic of a snow day!

The crisp texture of the twisted rib cuff gives way to easy-to-memorize stranded colorwork. The pattern includes two colorwork charts, so whether you choose a light or dark main color yarn, you’ll easily be able to follow the chart. The Snowburst Socks have a heel-flap-and-gusset construction, which makes for a structured fit. These socks will keep you warm all winter long!

SIZES
1 (2, 3, 4)

Finished circumference (unstretched):
6¼ (7, 8, 9)” / 16 (18, 20, 22.5) cm.

Designed to fit with about ½” / 1 cm negative ease. Leg length: 5¼” / 13 cm (adjustable); foot length: adjustable.

YARN
MC: approx. 150 (170, 190, 215) yds / 140 (155, 175, 195) m of fingering weight yarn
CC: approx. 115 (130, 150, 165) yds / 105 (120, 140, 150) m of fingering weight yarn

Yarn estimates are based on a sock foot length of 8½” / 22 cm. You may need more or less yarn if you adjust the leg or foot length.

For the best fit, knit socks ½” / 1 cm shorter than actual foot length.

The sample socks are shown in Size 2 using Green Letter Day Sock (473 yds 430 m / 100g; 75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon) in colors I.O.U. One Galaxy (MC) and Beach Read (CC). Note: Sample is knit with CC yarn held dominant.

GAUGE
36 sts / 44 rounds = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette and colorwork chart, after blocking

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
US Size 1 (2.25 mm) knitting needles (OR size needed to achieve gauge) suitable for working small circumferences in the round (e.g., small circular needle and DPNs, long circular needle for magic loop, OR two circular needles)

Note: Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking. You may need to go up a needle size to achieve gauge for the colorwork section.

Stitch markers (3, including BOR marker), scrap yarn or holder, tapestry needle
