Yardage span stated above covers full shawl as written, the low end using one thread lace on slightly smaller needles and high end using two threads cobweb held together on recommended needles. Yardage will wary according to needle size, how many rows you decide to cut out or not, whether of not you work nupps or not. And if you end at row 150, you will of course use much less yarn than if you work the whole thing. Perhaps around half the amount, but this hasn’t been verified.

Difficulty: Medium to advanced. Charted RS rows only, WS rows are purled except for edge sts and double, triple and quadruple yo’ers, and nupps.

Yarn: You can use a range of yarns as long as you have enough yardage. As shown was used DyeDianaDye FlaxenSilk cobweb, one skein Vin and one skein Eld with yarn held double throughout (gradient effect made by holding Eld/Eld, Vin/Eld, Vin/Vin – remember to alternate for a few rows when changing colours if you wish to do the same). The pattern does not include instructions on where to change colours, you can change when you feel like it.
160 g yarn or 2625 yards (2400 m) was used, or the equivalent of 1300 yards (1200 m) if using a single strand of lace yarn with the same needle size.
One tester did a single strand cobweb version on needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and used 1049 yards (960 m).
If you omit the nupps, you will use less yarn.

Beads: Beads can be placed when working nupps (or as substitutes for nupps). As shown, beads have been placed at the base of each single nupp. 81 beads are needed for this. If you wish to add beads to the base of the double nupps, you will need 81 beads for that as well, so 162 beads in all. Shown with size 6/0 round seed beads.

Construction: The shawl is worked from the neck down with a plain bind off. A short garter tab is used for the cast on.

Size: Approximately 28 inches (71 cm) deep and 76 inches (194 cm) wing span. 196 rows in all. If you want a smaller shawl, use one thread cobweb or skinny lace and smaller needles. You can also end the shawl sooner than what is shown here (after row 150), and some rows can be skipped (described in the pattern).

Needles and hooks: Size US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needle or the size you need to get a fabric you like. Cable needle.

Other notions: Stitch markers. Darning needle. Tool for placing beads if you want to bead the shawl.
