“In every generation there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the vampires the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer.”
-Joss Whedon
This asymmetric shawl starts and ends the same way: with one single stitch. Along the way, you’ll play with striping, work some simple yet effective mesh lace, and create a lovely and stretchy edging.
Yarn
approximately 575 (990) yards total fingering-weight yarn. I used Blue Moon Fiber Arts Super Sparkle in Buffy (cA), Cloud Nine in Bleck (cB), and Yaksi Fingering in Buffy (cC).
Exact yardage:
Smaller: cA: 185 yards; cB: 215 yards; cC: 175 yards.
Larger: cA: 315 yards; cB: 375 yards; cC: 300 yards.
The shawl takes three different skeins of yarn. For the sample shown, I used a skein each of two different yarn bases dyed in the same colorway; a pewter-based yak blend and a superwash-wool-based yarn with sparkle added, AND a semi-solid that is complementary but does not necessarily contain the exact same colors.
Finished measurements
Smaller: Longest edge: 81”; increase edge: 48” width at decrease edge: 29”.
Larger: Longest edge: 104”; increase edge: 63” width at decrease edge: 39”.
