The Sincere Sweater is a DK weight sweater worked in 5x1 ribbing. It has a crew style neckline with a picked up collar, and is worked top down (flat for the armhole shaping, then in the round for the remainder of the body and sleeves) with a sloped drop shoulder construction. The yoke section is worked at a smaller stitch count than the full bust, and has some increases at the bottom, and underarm cast on stitches to increase to the full bust measurement. The sleeves have a small amount of short row shaping at the top before working straight. The collar, cuffs and bottom edge have a 1x1 ribbed hem. The sweater is designed to fall to a high hip level. The pattern is intended to be a boxy fit, but has options for waist shaping if desired, as well as adjusting length as needed for the body and sleeves. This is a size inclusive design, written for 10 sizes (32-68 inch / 80-170 cm finished bust, in 4 inch / 10 cm increments) and designed for 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm of positive ease.

Finished sweater bust of:
32.5 (35.75, 39.75, 44)(48, 52, 56.25)(60.25, 64.5, 67.75) inches / 81.5 (89.5, 99.5, 110)(120, 130, 140.5)(150.5, 161.5, 169.5) cm
To fit actual bust of:
24-28 (28-32, 32-36, 36-40)(40-44, 44-48, 48-52)(52-56, 56-60, 60-64) inches / 60-70 (70-80, 80-90, 90-100)(100-110, 110-120, 120-130)(130-140, 140-150, 150-160) cm
Note: The sizes reflect the FINISHED bust measurements in inches / cm of the sweater, and listed below you can see the recommended actual bust range for each size. The sweater is designed for 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm of positive ease. To determine the size you wish to knit, measure your bust and add 4-8 inches / 10-20 cm to find the closest size. If you are in between sizes, size down for a snugger fit, or up for a looser fit. My sample is knit with 7 inches / 17.5 cm of positive ease (Size 4 on a 37 inch / 90 cm bust and 30 inch / 75 cm waist).
Note: If you are fairly busty, you may want to use less positive ease, or knit a size based on your upper bust measurement rather than your full bust measurement. This will help prevent the sweater being too loose around the rest of your torso.
Needles recommended:
4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - main body
4 mm / US 6 / UK 8 (or size needed to obtain gauge) - ribbing
Cord length to match your bust measurement as well as 9-16 inch / 22.5-40 cm cord for the sleeves (or DPNs or 32-40 inch / 80-100 cm cord for the magic loop method).
Gauge (blocked):
5 x 1 Ribbing:
Using 4.5 mm / US 7 / UK 7 (body) needles
I recommend swatching both in the round and flat, as parts of the sweater are knit flat before joining in the round. If your flat gauge is significantly different than your round gauge, you can adjust needle size for the flat portion.
4 x 4 inch / 10 x 10 cm = 19.5 sts x 28 rows/rounds
1 x 1 Ribbing:
Using 4 mm / US 6 / UK 8 (ribbing) needles
4 x 4 inch / 10 x 10 cm = 22 sts x 32 rounds
Yarn recommended:
One colour of any DK weight yarn to match gauge.
My sample is knit using Sincere Fiber Co - Dreamy Grey Yak DK (60% Superwash Merino, 20% Grey Yak, 20% Mulberry Silk, 231 yds / 211 m per 100g) in the colourway Black Seascape.
A great commercial alternative is Knitpicks Swish DK!
Yardage required:
Yardage is an approximation at this point, and is calculated using the recommended length for body/sleeves (see schematic) and no shaping. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do any length modifications, especially if you know you have a long torso/prefer a longer sweater.
Estimated Yardage / Meters:
740(800, 890, 985)(1075, 1140, 1250)(1350, 1445, 1510) yds / 677(732, 814, 901)(983, 1043, 1125)(1234, 1321, 1381) meters
Yardage / Meters per additional inch / 2.5 cm of body length:
24(27, 30, 33)(36, 39, 42)(45, 48, 51) yds / 22(25, 28, 30)(33, 36, 38)(41, 44, 47) meters
