This is homage to a tiny little shrew that visited my garden throughout the summer - darting at the speed of light (or so it seemed), darting hither and thither, no chance of capturing a photo so I thought I’d knit one!

Mine is knitted on the smallest needles I could get hold off with the softest and brownest yarn in my stash which happened to be Cardiff Cashmere Prime.

Yes, of course it’s a little fiddly but then it’s no way impossible, everything is joined as you go and the minimal seams are tiny and easy.

Eyes-wise - The only ones I could find small enough were glue-in ones, the ones that are used for needle felt animals - I’ve linked to a source in the pattern… this means that this is no way suitable for a small child unless you embroider French knots instead.

I’ve also dressed mine in a stripy sweater which I’ve also given you the pattern too.
Shrews get cold I’m sure!

Hope you like it!
